A tragedy in Puerto Rico has left an entire community in shock. Sixteen-year-old Gabriela Nicole Pratts Rosario was brutally killed in front of her mother during a violent attack.

According to prosecutors, Gabriela was stabbed multiple times by her former friend, Anthonieshka Avilés Cabrera, and her mother, Elvia Cabrera Rivera, after a fight broke out at a summer gathering. Gabriela’s mother, Lisandra, witnessed the horror but was held back as her daughter was attacked.

At her funeral, hundreds of mourners gathered to honor Gabriela. One grieving voice said, “We must continue to pray so that Gabriela can rest in peace.” Another witness added, “When a mother cries, we all cry.” Images of Lisandra’s heartbreak spread online, fueling widespread outrage.

Authorities confirmed the crime was intentional and have charged both suspects with first-degree murder. Bail was set at one million dollars each, and Anthonieshka will be tried as an adult.

This devastating case has united Puerto Ricans in grief and in their demand for justice for Gabriela.
