A family’s visit to the hospital ended in heartbreak when four-year-old Zaahir Jan died after being hit by a bus outside Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital in Margate, Kent, on August 7, 2025.
Zaahir had just visited his grandmother with his family and was leaving the hospital when he was struck by a white single-decker bus near the A&E entrance. Emergency teams rushed him inside, but he was pronounced dead shortly after. Police confirmed his family had been informed and appealed for witnesses or footage.

The tragedy came just six days after the death of his cousin’s mother, leaving the family devastated. His mother, Azaria, described him as a “sweet funny boy with a cheeky smile that could make anyone’s heart full.” She added, “I wish you were in my bed tonight cuddling. I love you, my boy.”
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help cover funeral costs for both Zaahir and his cousin’s mother. Tributes are pouring in online as the community rallies around the grieving family.
