A new side effect of the weight-loss drug Ozempic is causing concern. Known as “Ozempic mouth,” it leads to facial volume loss, deep wrinkles, and sagging skin around the mouth.

“Many users report visible aging in the face, especially around the mouth,” said Dr. Michele Green, a cosmetic dermatologist. “Fast weight loss causes the skin to droop, especially at higher doses.” Public figures like Sharon Osbourne and Whoopi Goldberg have shown signs of this effect.

To treat it, patients often turn to dermal fillers, which cost between $700 and $2,000 per syringe. Another option is Thermage, a skin-tightening treatment that stimulates collagen but can cost up to $3,500.

Dentists have also noticed increased dental issues due to dry mouth caused by reduced saliva flow. “Saliva helps protect teeth,” explained Dr. Sofina Ahmed. “Its loss can lead to sensitivity, gum problems, and an aged smile.”

Though Ozempic is FDA-approved for diabetes, many now use it for weight loss. Experts urge users to consider slower weight loss and monitor their oral health closely.
