Ali Eastburn, 58, wanted to lose 20 pounds before her son’s wedding to feel confident in the photos. After struggling with weight post-menopause, she turned to GLP-1 weight loss injections, starting with a low dose in April. “I was desperate to look better. I didn’t want to hate the wedding photos for the rest of my life,” she said.
The injections worked at first. She dropped 15 pounds, but when progress stalled, her dose increased. That’s when side effects hit hard—nausea, diarrhea, and severe heartburn. Just four days before the wedding, while flying to California, her appendix burst mid-flight.

Ali was rushed into emergency surgery and missed all pre-wedding events. She made it to the ceremony but spent the day in pain. “When my son hugged me at the wedding, we both cried. We didn’t think I’d make it,” she recalled.
Now fully recovered, Ali warns others: “Being thin isn’t worth risking your life. I’ll never use weight loss jabs again.” She plans to focus on healthy eating and exercise instead.
