A shocking discovery was made in Jeffrey Epstein’s $51 million New York townhouse: a rare first edition of the controversial novel Lolita. The book, by Vladimir Nabokov, tells the story of a man obsessed with a 12-year-old girl, told from the abuser’s perspective.
Photos reviewed by The Times showed the green-covered first edition displayed openly in Epstein’s home. The find has disturbed many, especially in light of Epstein’s history of abuse involving underage girls.
“This isn’t just a book on a shelf,” one reader commented online. “It feels like a window into his mindset.”

Epstein moved into the East 71st Street mansion in the 1990s and filled it with luxury decor. But behind the lavish lifestyle, darker signs were possibly hidden in plain sight. After his death in 2019, ruled a suicide, rumors about secret associate lists and hidden crimes continued to grow.
The townhouse, once listed for $88 million, sold recently for $51 million, according to attorney Daniel Weiner.
