One dead and dozens injured after Pennsylvania steel plant EXPLODES with multiple people still missing

A powerful explosion shook the US Steel Clairton Coke Works plant near Pittsburgh on Monday morning. One person has died, and at least two remain missing. Emergency crews rushed to the scene as flames and smoke filled the air.

Officials confirmed multiple injuries, with at least nine people taken to hospitals. “This was a terrible incident. Our prayers go out to the families affected,” said Clairton Mayor Rich Lattanzi. Witnesses described their homes shaking from the blast. One local wrote, “My teenage son’s ears were ringing.”

Rescue teams are still searching for people trapped under rubble. Authorities declared a mass casualty incident to bring in more ambulances and helicopters. Senator John Fetterman urged residents to stay away from the area. Governor Josh Shapiro also asked the public to pray for the community.

The Clairton plant is the largest coking operation in North America. While the cause of the explosion remains unknown, the scene is still active. For now, residents are left shaken, hoping for more survivors to be found.
