A small South Carolina town is in shock after 16-year-old Trey Dean Wright was shot and killed. Authorities say the brutal attack was no accident but a planned “murder plot.”
On June 24, Trey was lured to a rural road in Johnsonville. Police say his girlfriend, Gianna Kistenmacher, brought him there, where a group of teens was waiting. As Trey lay dying from gunshot wounds, at least one teen reportedly filmed him. “The sad thing is, you got a 16-year-old that lost his life,” Sheriff TJ Joyle said.

Nineteen-year-old Devan Scott Raper has been charged with murder. Investigators say he had previously threatened Trey and was caught on video firing the shots. Raper is being held without bond. Kistenmacher and several other teens, some as young as 17, now face charges ranging from accessory to murder. Authorities believe as many as ten teenagers were involved.
“This was over a female,” the sheriff added. “Now one boy is dead, and another may spend life in prison.”
A young life ended, and many others forever changed—over what?
