A coroner has confirmed that experienced skydiver Jade Damarell, 32, sadly took her own life after a relationship ended.
Jade had completed more than 500 jumps before her final dive on April 27 in County Durham, UK. The inquest heard she deliberately disabled her safety device and chose not to open her parachute. She also left a note for her family and instructions on her phone.
Coroner Leslie Hamilton ruled her death as suicide. Jade’s family described her as “brilliant, beautiful, brave and truly extraordinary.” They added, “We wish to speak openly and without shame to help build a kinder culture around mental health.”
The skydiving community also expressed grief, saying: “This heartbreaking news has deeply affected all who knew her.”
Jade’s story is a painful reminder of the struggles many face in silence. It highlights the importance of compassion, awareness, and support for those battling mental health challenges.
