A desperate son believes his mother is still alive after two weeks stranded on Victory Peak.
Mikhail Nagovitsin, 27, pleaded with authorities not to abandon the search for his mother, Natalia Nagovitsina. She broke her leg while descending the mountain on August 12 and has been unable to move.
“My mother is an experienced climber and in very good shape. I am sure she is alive,” he said. Mikhail added that drone footage showed Natalia waving her hand seven days after contact was lost.
Rescue attempts have been halted due to severe snow and dangerous winds. Officials insist survival is unlikely, saying, “No one could survive that long.” But Mikhail has appealed directly to Russia’s government, asking for more drones and another rescue mission.
The heartbreaking story has divided experts and family. While authorities fear the worst, Mikhail refuses to give up hope. His plea leaves one powerful question: should rescuers risk more lives, or keep fighting for a mother’s chance at survival?
