Man found in ‘pool of own blood’ at Burning Man as cops launch murder investigation

What should have been a night of art and celebration turned tragic at Burning Man. Police confirmed a man was found “lying in a pool of blood” during the famous effigy burning.

Around 80,000 people had gathered in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert when the 80-foot sculpture was set alight. Just after 9 p.m., a deputy was alerted to the shocking discovery at a nearby campsite. “Deputies and rangers immediately responded and found an adult male, obviously deceased,” officials said.

The man’s identity has not yet been released. His body was taken to the Washoe County Medical Examiner’s Office, while investigators continue to gather evidence and interview witnesses. Authorities have stressed that this appears to be an isolated crime but urged everyone to stay alert.

Burning Man is known for its community spirit and creativity, making this incident especially chilling. As the investigation unfolds, many are left asking: how safe are massive festivals like this?
