Parents are furious after a daycare worker accused of abusing a one-year-old boy was released on bail. Judge Ann Marie Rose-Emmons freed 54-year-old Yvette Thurston on a $44,000 bond, sparking anger across Georgia.
The toddler, Clay Weeks, returned from his first school day with a black eye and deep scratches. His father, Cory Weeks, said, “This is every parent’s worst nightmare, and we had to live it.” Surveillance footage later revealed what happened, contradicting the worker’s claim that another child caused the injuries.

Thurston now faces charges of aggravated battery and child abuse. The daycare center in Bainbridge has been shut down for 21 days while state investigators review the case. Officials confirmed Thurston has been terminated from her job.
The boy’s father warned other parents: “Don’t ever feel like you can’t question how an injury happened to your child.” His message is a painful reminder for families everywhere.

This shocking case raises urgent questions about child safety in schools and daycare centers. What do you think—should bail ever be granted in such cases?
