Ed Sheeran has confirmed he is leaving the UK and moving to the United States with his family. The 34-year-old singer revealed on a podcast that he will be “settling” in America during his tour. He recently bought a £9 million New York home, adding to his property empire.
“I’m just about to move to America,” Sheeran said. “I can’t dip in and out anymore. We’re settling there.” The move also fuels rumors he plans to transition into country music, with Nashville high on his list.
The announcement comes two months after Sheeran faced criticism for saying he “identifies culturally as Irish,” despite being born and raised in Suffolk. “My first musical experiences were in Ireland,” he explained. “I grew up with trad music in the house.”
