FBI officials confirmed Robinson, 22, lived with transgender roommate and partner Lance Twiggs in St. George, Utah. Twiggs is cooperating with investigators and turned over text messages that allegedly detail Robinson’s plans — including retrieving a rifle and changing clothes to avoid detection.
Authorities say Robinson confessed to his father after seeing his image on the news. His father, with the help of a family pastor, convinced him to surrender. The FBI later recovered a high-powered rifle, engraved bullets, and other evidence, which are being analyzed at Quantico.
Utah’s governor revealed that the bullet engravings referenced internet memes and video game culture. “Memes are meant for in-group communication,” explained digital culture professor Jamie Cohen, noting they may hold hidden meaning.
Robinson is being held without bail and faces charges including aggravated murder. Utah officials are considering the death penalty.
