Boy, 13, Dies After Taking Part In New Chroming Trend

A heartbroken family is warning parents after 13-year-old Nicky Lowther died from the deadly chroming craze. The teen was found unconscious at home in Canterbury, Kent, and could not be saved despite hospital efforts.

Chroming — also known as “huffing” — involves inhaling aerosols to get high. Nicky’s aunt, Toni Lowther, said 12 cans were found in his bedroom. “There’s no safe way of inhaling aerosols. It’s dangerous,” she said.

Toni described Nicky as “a cheeky chappy” who looked out for others at school. “It still doesn’t seem real,” she shared. She has launched a petition calling for age limits on aerosol sales, which has already gained over 5,000 signatures.

“Kids need to understand how dangerous it is,” Toni warned. She urged parents to talk openly with their children about chroming before another life is lost.

Do you think stricter rules on aerosol sales could help prevent more tragedies like Nicky’s?
