The world of figure skating is mourning after Julia Marie Gaiser, 23, died in a bike accident in Salzburg. The three-time Salzburg state champion was struck by a turning lorry while riding on a bike path. Emergency responders were unable to revive her at the scene.
Tributes have poured in for Gaiser, remembered for her “kindness” and “determination.” Friends shared, “She trained beyond scheduled hours, always trying to improve. She never shied away from hard work.”

Brixen mayor Andreas Jungmann said, “We are all deeply shocked. She was a role model for many.” Her club, Rot-Weiß Salzburg, added: “Julia left an unforgettable mark on the ice. Her laughter and shining eyes filled every room.”
Authorities have launched an investigation, with early reports suggesting she may have been in the driver’s blind spot. Candles and flowers have been placed at the crash site.
Do you think cities should improve cyclist safety to prevent tragedies like this from happening again?
