A Florida nurse has been jailed after admitting to serious crimes involving her teenage stepson, leaving her family in turmoil.
Alexis Von Yates, 34, accepted a plea deal that sentenced her to two years in prison, followed by probation and mandatory registration as a sex offender. Court records confirm she has also separated from her husband, David Yates, with whom she shares two young children.
Prosecutors revealed the disturbing case last year, which led to her arrest and conviction. During sentencing, the victim’s mother described her son’s pain, calling Von Yates a “coward” who showed no remorse. “Despite all of the trauma, my son still has a beautiful life to look forward to,” she told the court.
Von Yates will also face strict community controls once released. The case has left the family heartbroken, with many hoping justice and therapy will allow the teenager to heal. “The world will forever see you for what you are,” the boy’s mother added in her statement.
