Donald Trump has sparked controversy after suggesting he might “take a look” at pardoning Ghislaine Maxwell, the convicted sex trafficker linked to Jeffrey Epstein. Maxwell, now 63, is serving a 20-year prison sentence for grooming and trafficking underage girls for Epstein’s abuse.
When asked at the White House if he would consider granting her a pardon, Trump appeared to forget who she was. “I haven’t heard that name in so long,” he said. “I’d have to take a look.” He then added, “A lot of people ask me for pardons. I don’t know anything about it, but I’ll speak to the DOJ.”

His comments come after the Supreme Court rejected Maxwell’s latest appeal, which argued she was protected by Epstein’s old non-prosecution agreement. Her lawyer, David Oscar Markus, said the team was “deeply disappointed” but vowed to keep fighting. “This fight isn’t over,” he said. “We will pursue every avenue to ensure justice is done.”
Trump’s remarks have reignited debate over power, privilege, and accountability — raising the question: should justice ever bend for the powerful?
