Disgraced rock singer Ian Watkins, once the frontman of Lostprophets, has died in prison after a violent attack. Authorities have launched a murder investigation following his death at HMP Wakefield on Saturday, October 11. Watkins, 48, was serving a 35-year sentence for horrific child sex crimes.

The Welsh musician rose to fame in the 2000s, performing alongside Metallica and Slipknot. But in 2013, he was convicted of 13 sexual offences, including attempted rape of a baby and child abuse. The judge called his actions “new depths of depravity” and condemned his “complete lack of remorse.”

Watkins had previously been attacked in prison in 2022 but survived. This time, officers found him with serious injuries at 9:39 a.m. and tried to save him — but he was pronounced dead at the scene. Police confirmed that two inmates, aged 25 and 43, have been arrested for murder.

Before his downfall, Lostprophets sold millions of records worldwide. Former bandmates have since cut all ties, forming a new group called No Devotion. Watkins’ death closes one of Britain’s darkest music scandals — a chilling reminder that fame cannot erase evil.
