Jennifer Cahill, a 34-year-old mother from Greater Manchester, dreamed of welcoming her baby in peace and comfort. But her “intense” home birth plan turned tragic — just hours after giving birth to her daughter, Agnes, both mother and child were gone.
Her midwife described Jennifer’s plan as “the most intense” she’d ever seen. Jennifer refused medication, injections, and even simple observations. “She wanted no drugs, no exams — only a natural birth,” the midwife recalled. Her husband, Rob, shared that Jennifer’s first hospital delivery had been traumatic, and she simply couldn’t face that experience again.
