Sarah Ferguson, long known as the Duchess of York, has lost her royal title after nearly four decades. The change follows Prince Andrew’s decision to relinquish his remaining honors under growing pressure from King Charles and senior royals, including Prince William.

Andrew will step back from his prestigious orders, such as the Royal Victoria Order and the Order of the Garter, though he will keep his title as Prince — a birthright as the late Queen’s son. Their daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, also retain their titles.

For Sarah, this marks the end of her formal royal connection. Divorced from Andrew since 1996, she had kept the Duchess title as a courtesy. Now, in official settings, she will simply be known as Sarah Ferguson. Despite the shift, she and Andrew will continue living together at their Windsor home.

The decision comes amid renewed controversy over Andrew’s past links to Jeffrey Epstein. Ferguson’s own past association with Epstein, revealed through an old email calling him a “supreme friend,” has also drawn scrutiny.
