Mother branded a ‘monster’ for using controversial laser treatment on her baby son’s birthmark reveals what he looks like three years later

When Brooke Atkins first held her newborn son Kingsley, she noticed a deep red birthmark covering half his tiny face. Doctors later confirmed it wasn’t just cosmetic — it was linked to glaucoma and Sturge-Weber Syndrome, serious conditions that could cause blindness and seizures.

At six months old, Brooke made the agonizing choice to start laser treatments to protect his health. “People called me horrible names,” she recalled. “They didn’t know this wasn’t about looks — it was about saving him.”

Now, three years later, Kingsley’s mark has faded, and his smile shines brighter than ever. Though he still faces health challenges, Brooke says, “He’s happy, brave, and thriving — and that’s all that matters.”

💔 What began as judgment has turned into admiration — and a reminder that a mother’s love often means making the hardest choices of all.
