It started as a quiet afternoon inside HMP Coldingley. But what happened in the prison’s small prayer room would soon make headlines across the country.
Isabelle Dale, a 23-year-old prison officer, was accused of having an intimate encounter with inmate Shahid Sharif, a convicted robber. CCTV footage showed the pair entering the prayer room — with two inmates allegedly standing guard. Just four minutes later, Dale was seen leaving, adjusting her uniform belt.

What followed shocked even investigators. Prosecutors claim the relationship continued after Sharif’s transfer to another prison, with Dale helping him smuggle in “spice” — a dangerous synthetic drug — hidden inside envelopes. Police later found secret love notes, £100 transfers, and even a framed photo of the pair hanging above her bed.
“She crossed every line,” said one officer. “It’s a story of manipulation, obsession, and betrayal.”
Dale, who joined the prison service in 2021, has denied all charges, insisting the allegations are false.

For many, her story raises a haunting question — how does someone sworn to uphold the law end up breaking it for love? 💔
