Most people think kissing a man with a beard is harmless — even romantic. But doctors say it might carry an unexpected risk.
Dr. Muneeb Shah, known online as The Derm Doctor, has issued a serious warning after seeing one too many patients with painful facial rashes. In a viral video, he revealed what can really happen when beards aren’t cleaned properly — and the results are not pretty.

“Clean your beards,” he urged. “Facial hair traps bacteria, and tiny skin cuts from kissing or rubbing can cause infection.” Those infections, he explained, can lead to impetigo — a contagious skin condition that causes red sores and crusty scabs, often mistaken for acne.
The good news? It’s preventable. Dermatologists recommend washing facial hair daily, using beard oil or conditioner suited to your skin type, and keeping clean towels and combs. “It’s not just about looking good,” one expert said. “It’s about keeping yourself — and your partner — healthy.”
So before that next kiss, maybe pause for a moment. A clean beard isn’t only attractive — it’s safer, too.
