Some women feel judged for not doing enough — but Amee Gleadell, 35, says she’s judged for doing too much.
The proud mom from Lincoln believes her natural looks and confident style have made her a target among other mothers. “I get stares and whispers at baby groups,” Amee says. “I think some moms just don’t like that I take care of myself.”

Amee, who runs a catering business while raising her 15-month-old son Arthane, loves dressing up every day — choosing a nice dress, jewelry, and even keeping her nails and toes sparkly. “I don’t wear much makeup,” she says. “I’m just a natural woman who likes feeling good about herself.”
She stays active through yoga, swimming, and chasing her son around the park. Yet, she admits that being “put together” often brings criticism instead of kindness. “Some moms think I’m showing off,” Amee explains. “But I’m just being me.”

Despite the judgment — even for breastfeeding in public — Amee refuses to hide who she is. “I love my life,” she says. “I just wish more women would lift each other up instead of tearing each other down.”
Because in the end, confidence shouldn’t be something people have to apologize for.
