Ina Garten says husband would have ‘loved’ having kids but he wants her ‘happy’

Ina Garten, known for her culinary expertise, recently shared her choice not to have children on Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ podcast. She explained, “I just had a terrible childhood, and it was nothing I wanted to recreate.” Despite her husband Jeffrey’s potential desire for kids, he prioritized her happiness, saying, “He wanted me to be happy, and it was OK with him.”

Reflecting on her younger years, Garten admitted, “When I was 20, I didn’t want to have anything to do with” children. Despite observing her friends’ experiences, she remained resolute. Garten reminisced about Jeffrey’s romantic gestures, including letters he wrote to her since high school, now treasured mementos. The couple, married for over 50 years, shared a life of adventure across various cities.

Garten’s upcoming memoir, “Be Ready When the Luck Happens,” delves into their enduring love story. This intimate glimpse showcases how mutual respect and understanding shape a lasting partnership.
