A flight attendant has shared a simple hotel trick that can stop you from forgetting your valuables. Esther Sturrus, known as @esthersturrus on TikTok, posted a video that quickly went viral. In it, she explains why you should always put one shoe inside your hotel safe.
Esther says many travelers forget their passports, money, or jewelry when they check out. But if you lock one shoe in the safe, you will notice it right away when you get dressed. You literally cannot leave the room without opening the safe to get your missing shoe.
She also shares other useful travel hacks. One tip is the card trick, where any card can often activate the power slot in your room. Some viewers say it doesn’t work everywhere, but it still works in many hotels.
To keep your room dark, Esther suggests using a clothes hanger to clip your curtains together. This blocks the light from shining through the gap and helps you sleep better.
If you forget an international charger, she says you can use the USB port on the hotel TV to charge your phone. And for a quick hygiene fix, she uses a shower cap to cover the TV remote or to protect clean clothes from dirty shoes.
But her most loved tip is the easiest one: place a shoe in the safe. If you try to leave with only one shoe, you’ll be forced to open it — and you won’t forget anything important.
