Two young Filipino influencers have died just one day apart, leaving the country stunned and demanding answers. Actress and model Gina Lima, only 23, was found unresponsive inside her Quezon City condo on November 17. The man who last saw her alive — her former boyfriend Ivan Ronquillo, 24 — died the next day in an apparent suicide.
According to police, Ronquillo said he woke up to find Lima unconscious beside him. He rushed her to Quezon City General Hospital, but doctors could not revive her. Early findings pointed to possible cardiorespiratory distress. As news spread online, friends and fans shared concerns, with some claiming she had been seen with unexplained bruises. Police have not confirmed those reports.

The tragedy deepened when Ronquillo was found hanging just 24 hours later. Although hospital staff briefly revived him, he died soon after. Police say he had never been considered a suspect and had been cooperating fully as a witness.
An initial autopsy showed no fatal external injuries. Instead, it revealed organ congestion, including fluid in Lima’s lungs, leaving the exact cause of death undetermined. Samples from her body are now undergoing further testing. Investigators also recovered tablets and marijuana from her room but have not said whether they played any role.

Police are now examining the intense online harassment Ronquillo faced in the hours after Lima’s death. His final social media posts showed him crying, holding her unconscious body, and expressing deep grief — messages that hinted at the devastating choice he made soon after.

Both families, and thousands of followers, are now left with heartbreak and unanswered questions.
