Some trips bring sunshine and rest, but others take a painful turn no one expects. That is what happened to 56-year-old Tracey Ellis, a mother of four who became gravely ill while vacationing alone in Tenerife. What began as stomach pain quickly became a fight for her life.
Tracey collapsed in agony on June 22 and called an ambulance for help. Doctors at the emergency clinic diagnosed acute pancreatitis and rushed her to a private hospital for urgent care. Within hours, her condition worsened as the infection spread, and she was placed in an induced coma on life support.

Her family back in the UK had no idea what was happening. Tracey managed to message her children briefly, saying she felt frightened and was being charged thousands while sorting out her travel insurance. When her sons flew out the next day, they were shocked to find her unresponsive in intensive care.
Communication at the hospital was difficult, and the news grew more heartbreaking. Doctors explained that Tracey was suffering internal bleeding and multiple organ complications. The family then faced another blow when they were asked to pay a large deposit or move her elsewhere—something too risky in her fragile state.

Tracey was eventually moved to a state hospital, but the bills had already reached £30,000. Her children have created a GoFundMe page to cover the costs and arrange travel home once she stabilizes. They say their only wish is to see their brave, loving mum recover.
Moments like these remind us how precious family truly is, especially when life changes without warning.
