Some compliments catch us by surprise, especially when they come from strangers. That’s what often happens to 43-year-old mum Sarah Reid, who says people sometimes mistake her for her 19-year-old son’s friend. She laughs about it now, but her youthful look comes from years of hard work and discipline.
Sarah once weighed 20 stone, but everything changed when she became pregnant with her son Damien. She set a bold goal—to run the London Marathon—and spent the next two years transforming her health. By the time she crossed that finish line in 2008, she had lost 10 stone and gained a new sense of confidence.

The turning point in her journey came later, when epilepsy forced her to leave her job as a carer. Instead of slowing down, she created a strict routine at home, working out early in the morning and again each evening. Exercise became her way of staying strong, focused, and grounded.
She also follows a simple lifestyle that supports her youthful glow. Sarah doesn’t drink or smoke, avoids makeup because of sensitive skin, and stays active every day. Her dedication is so clear that she’s still asked for ID—even at age 40 while buying a beer for her dad.

Today, Sarah lives with her husband and two children, devoting much of her time to volunteering and raising money for charities close to her heart. She encourages others to find a form of movement they truly enjoy, whether it’s walking, skating, or something new.
Her story is a gentle reminder that caring for yourself—inside and out—can shape a life that feels vibrant at any age.
