People Are Coming Out As Berris**ual – Here’s What It Means

Online LGBTQ+ communities continue to create new language to better describe the many ways people experience attraction. For some, finding the right term feels like finally putting a name to something they’ve always known. One of the newest labels drawing attention is berrisual**, a word that has begun circulating on Reddit, Tumblr, and other queer-focused platforms.

Although far less familiar than bisexual or pansexual, the term has quickly won supporters. Reddit users often introduce it with a mix of humor and pride, while others share relief at discovering a label that feels more accurate than those they’ve used before. Many describe berrisual as the identity that “fits at last,” especially when broader labels seem too vague.

Early definitions from online communities explain berrisual as an orientation that includes attraction to all genders, but with a clear pattern: stronger attraction toward women, feminine-aligned, nonbinary, or androgynous people, and only occasional or lighter attraction toward men or masculine-aligned individuals. In other words, attraction isn’t limited — it’s simply weighted differently.

Some newcomers have wondered whether identifying this way means they cannot date men, but LGBTQ+ forums consistently clarify that the term is inclusive, not restrictive. It helps people express nuance, not impose limits.

Like many microlabels, berrisual offers a way for individuals to describe their experiences with greater precision. It gives those who recognize themselves in this pattern of attraction a sense of validation and a community of others who feel the same.
