Phillip Schofield, 61, announced his immediate departure from “This Morning,” the show he co-hosted for 21 years. Schofield, known for “Dancing on Ice” and “The Cube,” shared on Instagram: “I have always been proud to cover fascinating stories on This Morning. But recently, This Morning itself has become the story. I want to do what I can to protect the show that I love.”
Co-host Holly Willoughby, who has presented with Schofield for 13 years, expressed her sentiments on Instagram: “It’s been over 13 great years presenting This Morning with Phil, and I want to take this opportunity to thank him for all of his knowledge, his experience, and his humour. The sofa won’t feel the same without him.”
ITV confirmed Schofield’s departure, noting his last episode aired on May 18. They stated: “After more than 20 years on the This Morning sofa, Phillip Schofield has stepped back from ITV’s flagship morning show.” However, Schofield will continue to host peak-time shows, including the upcoming British Soap Awards.
“This Morning,” a highly popular daytime show, covers a variety of topics, including celebrity interviews and current affairs. Willoughby will continue hosting with other co-presenters until a permanent replacement for Schofield is found.
