A new analysis comparing average penis sizes around the world has sparked widespread interest—and surprise. According to data compiled by the analytics group Data Pandas, the United States ranks 68th globally, with an average erect length of 5.57 inches, only slightly above the worldwide average.

Who Tops the Global List?
African and South American nations dominate the top rankings.
- Sudan leads with an average length of 7.07 inches.
- The Democratic Republic of the Congo follows closely at 7.05 inches.
- Ecuador ranks third with 6.93 inches.
On the opposite end, several Southeast Asian countries report the smallest averages, including Thailand, North Korea, and Cambodia, with measurements ranging from 3.7 to 3.9 inches.
How Reliable Are the Numbers?
The figures come from a review of international studies published in a medical journal, though some measurements were self-reported—meaning accuracy may vary. Cultural attitudes and reporting bias can play a significant role.
Girth and Overall Size
While length often gets the most attention, researchers also compared girth and overall volume.
- France leads in average circumference at 5.37 inches.
- Ecuador again ranks near the top when overall volume is calculated.
Why Men Care More Than Women
Interestingly, surveys show women place far less importance on size than men do. A major study found only 21% of women considered length significant, while nearly 80% of men wished they were larger.
Researchers note that average lengths have gradually increased over recent decades, possibly linked to earlier puberty and shifting hormonal patterns.
