Man, 27, ‘enjoying life’ diagnosed with aggressive cancer that is deadly for people under 40 after collapsing in bedroom at family home

A young man who once felt healthy and carefree has shared how his life changed overnight after a sudden cancer diagnosis.

Charlie Pearson was 27 and thriving in London when he collapsed at his family home in 2019. With no cancer history and no warning signs, the news came as a shock. Doctors discovered a rare brain tumour after he suffered a seizure in his bedroom.

Surgeons removed the tumour, and for several years, Charlie believed the worst was behind him. Regular scans showed stability. He returned to work, earned a promotion, and resumed everyday life. For a while, hope felt justified.

However, everything changed again in 2023. Charlie suffered another seizure, this time on the London Underground. Soon after, new symptoms appeared. He struggled with speech, facial weakness, and mobility. Tests revealed devastating news. His tumour had become glioblastoma, one of the most aggressive cancers affecting people under 40.

Doctors gave him a grim prognosis. Despite this, Charlie began treatment immediately. Chemotherapy has taken a heavy toll, causing exhaustion, nausea, and hair loss. He also experiences frequent seizures, which often leave him unable to speak for days.

Still, Charlie focuses on what remains. He leans on his partner, family, and loyal friends, many of whom now fundraise for brain cancer research. He speaks openly to raise awareness, stressing that serious illness can strike anyone, at any age.

“This is not the life I planned,” he says. “But it’s the one I’m living, one day at a time.”
