Social media just revived a familiar name: Baba Vanga, the blind Bulgarian mystic linked by supporters to predictions about 9/11 and the Covid pandemic.

Vanga, born in 1911 as Vangeliya Pandeva Dimitrova, lost her sight at 12 after a tornado. She later built a reputation for foresight, healing, and fortune-telling, especially after age 30. She died of breast cancer in 1996. She left no written record of her forecasts. People rely on accounts from her niece, Krasimira Stoyanova, and other followers, and critics accuse them of stretching or misreading her words.

Now the internet fixates on her claims for 2026. One prediction places contact with a new civilization in November and describes a “massive spacecraft” arriving on Earth. She also warned about a possible World War III and pointed to tension among China, Russia, and the U.S. Another forecast describes major earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and extreme weather affecting about 8 percent of the planet’s land. Scientists reject near-term alien contact, and the U.S. government has reported no evidence of such beings.

She also tied the future to breakthroughs. She pointed to cancer blood tests and energy mining in space. Sky History also connected her to warnings about AI reshaping major industries and raising ethical questions. She even placed Venus energy mining in 2028.
