Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce sparked intense online buzz after announcing their engagement. Swift shared the news with the caption, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.” The couple have been together since July 2023, when they began dating during Swift’s Eras tour.
The announcement set off widespread celebration among fans, including a brief Google confetti effect when users searched either star’s name. Some reports have also speculated the engagement ring could be worth as much as $1 million.

Amid the congratulations, Kelce’s ex-girlfriend Maya Benberry offered a warning in comments to the Daily Mail. She described him as a “cheating narcissist” who would never “change,” adding: “Only time will tell, but like the saying always goes, once a cheater, always a cheater.” She continued: “Taylor seems like such a fun girl with a beautiful spirit, so I wish her the best of luck, but I wouldn’t be a girls’ girl if I didn’t advise her to be smart!”
Another former partner, influencer Kayla Nicole—who dated Kelce for five years until 2022—has spoken more cautiously in public. In an Instagram Q&A, she wrote: “People are sometimes only meant to be part of your life for a season.” She added: “Give yourself time and permission to grieve because losing a bond can be heartbreaking.”

In a separate interview, Nicole said she has chosen to “protect herself,” explaining: “Publicly, because things are happening so quickly and so publicly, I have to protect myself. That’s really all that is.” She added: “The love is still there.”
