A British grandmother has sparked controversy after revealing she’s dating a much younger man she met while on holiday in The Gambia — and says men her age simply don’t appeal to her.

Zena, 65, from Oxted in Surrey, met Ebrima, 44, while he was working as a waiter at her resort. Their relationship later featured on 90 Day Fiancé UK, where she described him as tall, attractive, and the “perfect in-between” compared with men in their 60s, who she says she isn’t drawn to.
Since the romance began, Zena has reportedly showered Ebrima with expensive gifts and financial support, including an iPhone, a mattress, and more than £1,000 for birthdays, Christmas, and help for his family. She says being generous is simply who she is. Ebrima has also asked for thousands more to start a taxi business.

Online critics have labelled Zena a “sex tourist,” a claim she strongly rejects. She insists she’s in the relationship for love, not attention — and says she could date in the UK if she wanted to.
At home, her family remains uneasy. Her mother hopes the relationship doesn’t lead to marriage, while her daughter and granddaughter question Ebrima’s motives — especially after they discovered a secret social media profile where he appeared to list himself as single.
Zena says she plans to confront him about the account, the “single” status, and the women on his friends list — worried she may be investing in someone who isn’t fully honest.
