A 36-year-old former police officer in Florida is facing a child abuse charge after an incident at a luxury hotel pool in Kissimmee.
According to an Osceola County Sheriff’s Office report, Tiffany Lee Griffith was vacationing at the Gaylord Palms Hotel when she saw her seven-year-old autistic, non-verbal son playing in the water with two other children. Police say the kids were splashing aggressively, and one child allegedly pulled her son underwater.

Investigators claim Griffith jumped into the pool, shouted at the six-year-old boy, and then forced his head beneath the water for several seconds. Court testimony said hotel security video shows the child submerged for roughly two to four seconds.
Witnesses reported the boy appeared distressed and left the pool area with a nosebleed. Deputies arrived around 4:30 p.m. and detained Griffith, who reportedly told officers she was protecting her son.

In court, her husband said the other child dunked their son more than once and argued they could not find the boy’s parents. Griffith’s original aggravated charge was reduced to one count of child abuse, and she was released on a $20,000 bond.
As part of her release conditions, she must avoid contact with the child and his family, refrain from alcohol, and stay away from the resort.
