Spoiler warning: Season 5, Volume 2 (Episode 7).
Stranger Things viewers are stunned by a major emotional moment in Episode 7—and even more shocked by how long it took to shoot.

According to Noah Schnapp, filming the scene lasted more than 12 hours, with additional time spent on reshoots. The moment follows Will as he tries to break free from Vecna’s control by facing what he’s been hiding: who he really is.
Will first opens up to his mum, Joyce, and then comes out to the people around him. Schnapp said he was nervous to read how the Duffer Brothers would handle it, because the storyline meant so much to him. When he saw the script, he reportedly cried—and praised the creators for finally giving Will that space on screen.
What’s baffling fans isn’t just the emotion. It’s the crowd.
The room includes Will’s closest friends—Eleven, Mike, Lucas, Dustin, and Max—plus familiar faces like Jonathan, Nancy, Hopper, Robin, and Steve. But it doesn’t stop there. Even supporting characters are present, making the scene feel packed and, to some viewers, oddly staged.
Online, fans questioned why Will would share something so personal with so many people at once—especially in the 1980s. Others, however, say they’re glad the show included the moment at all.
Season 5 Volumes 1 and 2 are streaming on Netflix, with the finale arriving January 1, 2026.
