A couple in Pennsylvania welcomed a baby after an unexpected pregnancy. Now they are raising their daughter together.
How their relationship began
First, Tucker Gilbert, 29, began transitioning to male in 2016. Transitioning means changing your body to match identity. He met Danielle, 32, in 2020 while they both worked as nurses.

Open marriage and surprise pregnancy
Next, Tucker suggested an open relationship because he worried about meeting Danielle’s needs. In April 2024, Tucker learned he was pregnant by another man, despite using protection. At the same time, Danielle had been trying to get pregnant using a sperm donor.

Parenting plans and feeding their baby
Also, the couple married that August, and their daughter Maya was born in February 2025. Maya’s biological father is not involved, but they plan to be honest with her later. Because Tucker had top surgery, Danielle induced lactation so she could breastfeed.

However, the couple has faced hateful comments online, including threats. Tucker says they stay unbothered and keep living their lives. Finally, they say they have no regrets and call Maya their “gay miracle.”
