The honor ran through Old Dominion University’s MFA program.
It also partnered with the Poetry Society of Virginia.
She published then under the name Renée Macklin.
Judges recognized her poem “On Learning to Dissect Fetal Pigs.”
Her work also appeared in Metrosphere and Coronado Literary Review.
Mother of three
Politico reported Good had three children.
She had a 15-year-old and a 12-year-old from her first marriage.
She also had a 6-year-old son from her second marriage.
Timmy Ray Macklin Sr. spoke to the Star Tribune.

He said her two older children lived with extended family.

Her ex-husband told Politico she was a stay-at-home mother.
However, she previously worked as a dental assistant.
She also worked at a credit union.

Also, Rep. Ilhan Omar described her as a legal observer.
New to Minneapolis
Politico said she moved from Kansas City, Missouri, in 2025.
She was originally from Colorado Springs.
Online, she called herself a “poet and writer and wife and mom,”.
She added she was “experiencing Minneapolis.”
Shooting still investigated
KARE 11 said the shooting happened near 34th Street and Portland Avenue.
It was in the Powderhorn Park neighborhood on January 7, 2026.
