Celebrities wore special pins at the Golden Globes to protest ICE and honor Renée Good.
Meaning of the Pins
Stars wore pins with the messages “ICE out” and “Be Good.” These pins honor Renée Macklin Good from Minneapolis. ICE agents shot the 37-year-old mother earlier this week. The death has caused great outrage across the United States.

Conflict Over the Shooting
Some people say the agents shot Good without a reason. However, others claim she tried to run over the agents. The Department of Homeland Security called her actions domestic terrorism. They stated the agent fired his gun in self-defense.
Local Leaders Respond
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey spoke against the immigration agency. He told ICE to leave the city immediately. Frey also said the claims from the government are wrong. “Having seen the video of myself, I want to tell everybody directly that is b*sh.”
Celebrities Join Campaign
Mark Ruffalo and Wanda Sykes wore the pins on the red carpet. The ACLU and other groups supported this campaign. The pins also honor Keith Porter. An off-duty agent shot him on New Year’s Eve.

Message of Being Good
Organizers say the campaign reminds us to be good to each other. They released a statement about the importance of being a good citizen. “Everyday, everywhere, regular people are being good.” They want people to support organizations that keep communities safe.
