Family Torn Apart
Brandi Rahimi describes the devastating impact on her family after ICE agents arrested her husband. Shahrokh was taken from their home on June 22, 2025.
Arrest at Home
Officers from the Department of Homeland Security arrived at the family house. They placed Shahrokh in handcuffs in front of his 12-year-old daughter. Shahrokh entered the country in 2003 and received “withholding of removal” in 2010. This meant the government could not deport him to Iran due to torture risks. However, he has now been held in three different detention facilities.

Impact on Daughter
The arrest caused the couple’s daughter to have a severe panic attack. Now, the gifted student feels paranoid and unsafe in her own home. She asks for security cameras and wants her mother to sleep with her. “There is no true cure for the grief borne from the taking of one’s father.” The family had to cancel her cello lessons due to financial strain.

Shahrokh owned a small taco shop and worked as a school mentor. He often mowed neighbors’ yards for free and fed local veterans. The Saturday before his arrest, he mowed three yards for no charge. Meanwhile, he calls his daughter every morning from detention to support her. He remains the beating heart of the Rahimi family.

A Mother’s Struggle
Brandi Rahimi now works as a preschool director while raising her child alone. She experiences symptoms of depression and extreme exhaustion from the stress. A relative started an online fundraiser to help the family cover legal costs. “Our loved ones cannot be reduced.” She continues to fight for his release and his return home.
