A Florida couple has sued a fertility clinic after discovering that the wrong embryo was implanted during treatment.
The couple had embryos stored at the Fertility Centre of Orlando for future use. According to the lawsuit, an embryo belonging to another patient was implanted by mistake, despite safety checks that should have prevented this.

After the baby was born, the parents noticed something was wrong. Both parents are Caucasian, but the child appeared to be from a different racial background. Genetic testing later confirmed the child is not biologically related to either parent.
The couple says they bonded deeply with the baby during pregnancy and after birth. The child remains in their care. They say they are willing to raise her, but feel a moral duty to address the error and inform the baby’s biological parents if they come forward.
They are asking the court to order the clinic to notify all affected patients, pay for genetic testing, and explain how the mistake happened. The couple also fears their own embryo may have been implanted in another patient.
The clinic has said it is cooperating with an investigation. The case has raised serious concerns about safety and oversight in fertility treatment.
