Boy, 13, dies after being mauled by shark at popular tourist beach destination

A 13-year-old boy has died after a shark attack at Del Chifre Beach in Brazil, a popular coastal area. The incident happened on Thursday while the boy was swimming in the sea.

The boy, identified as Deivson Rocha Dantas, was pulled from the water and rushed to a nearby hospital. Despite emergency treatment, doctors were unable to save him. Medical staff said the injuries caused severe blood loss, and he was already in critical condition when he arrived.

Witnesses said friends who were with him acted quickly and called for help. Family members later confirmed that he had gone to the beach without his mother knowing. People nearby reported briefly seeing the shark before it disappeared.

Local authorities confirmed the death and said the beach is in an area known for shark activity. Officials explained that warning signs are already posted along the coast and that swimming and other water activities are restricted in high-risk zones.

The area has been monitored for shark incidents for many years. Authorities are again urging residents and tourists to respect safety warnings and avoid entering the water in restricted locations to prevent further tragedies.
