Moment woman fell 360ft into crocodile-infested water after her bungee cord snapped

What began as an adventure holiday nearly ended in tragedy for Erin Langworthy, an Australian traveler who survived a terrifying bungee jump accident.

In 2012, while visiting Zambia, Langworthy leapt from a bridge over the Zambezi River. Moments later, her bungee cord snapped. She plunged 360 feet into the fast-moving river below, an area known for strong currents and crocodiles.

Footage later showed her struggling in the water as the current carried her downstream. Despite the shock and impact, she managed to stay conscious until a staff member rescued her.

Langworthy suffered severe bruising, partially collapsed lungs, and internal injuries. She also swallowed river water, raising fears of infection. After several hours, she reached a hospital in Zimbabwe, where doctors treated her and placed her on a ventilator. Fortunately, she had no broken bones and eventually recovered.

She later described coughing up blood and feeling overwhelmed by what had happened. The bungee company apologized, saying they were astonished she survived.

Today, her story remains a stark reminder that extreme sports carry real risks. What was meant to be a thrilling experience became a life-threatening fall — and a second chance at life.
