Former ESPN journalist Sarah Spain has described feeling uncomfortable while seated near Vice President JD Vance at the Winter Olympics.
Speaking on her podcast, Spain said she was attending a women’s hockey game when Vance arrived with a large security presence. She explained that the sudden movement of Secret Service agents around her section disrupted the atmosphere and blocked part of her view of the ice.

Spain said the experience made her feel uneasy and frustrated. She admitted she had a strong personal reaction upon seeing the vice president and described feeling unsettled during the encounter. She also expressed anger that the heavy security presence interfered with her ability to enjoy the game.
Despite the distraction, Team USA went on to win decisively. However, Spain said the security measures overshadowed the event for her.
Vance was attending the Olympics as part of the official U.S. delegation. He also met with American athletes and encouraged them to enjoy the experience and represent the country with pride.
Spain’s comments have sparked discussion online, with some supporting her right to share her feelings and others criticizing her remarks.
