In 1980, a tragic case in Germany shocked the nation. Seven-year-old Anna Bachmeier was found murdered. The man accused of killing her, Klaus Grabowski, later confessed and went on trial.
Anna’s mother, Marianne Bachmeier, believed prison was not enough punishment for her daughter’s killer. Overcome with grief and anger, she brought a gun into the courtroom during the trial in March 1981.
While Grabowski stood before the court, Bachmeier fired several shots, killing him in front of judges and witnesses. She was immediately arrested and later faced trial for his death.
