Donald Trump Claims People In Europe ‘Like Me’ As Approval Polls Reveal The Truth

Donald Trump has claimed that “the people of Europe like me.” New polling suggests otherwise.

A recent YouGov survey across the UK, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain found that only 19% of respondents view Trump favorably. In Denmark, which has faced tensions with the US over Greenland, just 4% expressed a positive opinion. The findings contrast sharply with Trump’s public confidence about his popularity overseas.

Relations between the US and Europe have been strained during his second term. Disputes over NATO, tariffs, and comments about renewable energy have added to diplomatic friction. Trump has also criticized Europe’s use of wind power and threatened strong action regarding Greenland, moves that unsettled several allies.

At home, approval ratings are also mixed. An AP-NORC poll found that 40% of US adults approve of his performance, while 59% disapprove. On key issues, support is lower. Only 37% approve of his handling of the economy, and similar numbers back his approach to immigration and foreign policy.

Another survey by The New York Times and Siena College reported that many voters feel their cost of living has worsened in recent years.

While Trump continues to highlight his election victories and personal popularity, current data in both the US and Europe show a more divided picture.
