Trump Asks Supreme Court To Overturn E. Jean Carroll Verdict
Former President Donald Trump has asked the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn a civil verdict involving writer E. Jean Carroll.
In 2023, a jury found Trump liable for battery and defamation, awarding Carroll $5 million. An appeals court later upheld that decision, leading Trump’s legal team to seek a review from the nation’s highest court.
His attorneys argue the case lacked strong evidence and should not stand. Carroll and her supporters, however, view the ruling as a significant moment for accountability.
The Supreme Court has not yet decided whether it will take up the case.
If it declines, the original verdict will remain in place.
