Dakota Johnson, a well-known actress, producer, and director, began acting at age ten and is best known for her role in the “Fifty Shades of Grey” series. She comes from a family deeply rooted in the entertainment industry. Her mother, Melanie Griffith, is an actress with over 80 acting credits, and her father, Don Johnson, has over 100 acting credits.
Dakota grew up in a blended family. Her mother was married to actor Antonio Banderas from 1996 to 2015. Banderas fondly recalled, “She was 5 when I met her, when she became my family. I almost changed her nappies. She’s my daughter, I love her.”
Dakota values chosen families as much as biological ones. “I have four brothers and two sisters… they call each other sisters and they are always together,” she said. She emphasizes that family bonds are about the connections we choose and nurture.
At 34, Dakota is in a long-term relationship with Chris Martin, frontman of Coldplay, and considers herself a stepmom to his children, Apple and Moses. “I love those kids like my life depends on it. With all my heart,” she shared. Despite engagement rumors, the couple remains private about their relationship.
